Aiming to Create High-Value New Drugs to Meet Unmet Medical Needs 

With our corporate philosophy of “Contribute toward the improvement of people’s health and progress in medicine through the development of innovative products” in mind, we are working to strengthen our R&D capabilities with the aim of continuously creating high-value new drugs to meet unmet medical needs. We have created many in-house developed products rich in originality through our cutting-edge technologies, our long-accumulated experience in sex hormone and endocrine hormone research, and our active use of open innovation. 

Research Strengths

Our Innovative Drug Discovery Division strives to strengthen drug discovery research with the aim of developing high-value, in-house discovered products that can meet unmet medical needs. The division searches for drug discovery seeds by identifying market needs with an emphasis on evidence while also utilizing open innovation. Furthermore, by integrating cutting-edge technologies with our long-accumulated experience, we build development concepts, synthesize new substances, and narrow down the compounds to be developed so that we can quickly move on to clinical trials on humans. In addition to activities with a view to the out-licensing of our own products, we also actively engage in the evaluation and development of in-licensed products from a research aspect.

Development Strengths 

With our corporate philosophy of “Contribute toward the improvement of people’s health and progress in medicine through the development of innovative products” in mind, the Development Division aims to deliver valuable new drugs to patients as quickly as possible. 
With the cooperation of medical professionals and partner companies, we focus on specialty areas. We are engaged in clinical trials of new drugs developed in-house and inlicensed from other companies, as well as life cycle management through the addition of new indications for existing pharmaceuticals. In addition, we re-focus on the contribution to total healthcare (QOL improvement, prevention and pre-diseases, etc.) by sex hormonerelated substances, which has our roots in our company’s history. We promote the search for seeds, alliance activities, and clinical development to solve issues in healthy living from patients’ viewpoints.。

Utilization of External Resources (Shonan Research Center)

We promote research alliance activities and collaboration with academia and external organizations to enhance drug discovery seeds and accelerate research. Furthermore, to further accelerate our drug discovery research activities through open innovation, we have fully relocated our research center to the "Shonan Health Innovation Park" in FY2020.
